Great Exploits! Daniel 11:32 - Those who Know their God!

 by Keith Miller

The Lord is looking for ordinary Christians through whom He can display His extraordinary nature. He wants to do mighty deeds that give witness to the reality of who He is in us. Daniel 11:32 says, "But those who know their God will be strong and do great exploits." God is raising up a people who will know Him intimately, who will be transformed to His image by beholding Him, and who will demonstrate mighty acts to manifest His power for the glory of His Name. As you read this article, I want you to get ravenously hungry to know Him more and see His mighty acts come forth through your life on a day to day basis!

A CALL TO GO DEEPER

Look in Psalms 145, beginning in verse 1:

"I will exalt You, my God, O King; I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable."

Even though God's greatness is unsearchable, the scripture also says in 1 Corinthians 2:9 that we've been given the Holy Spirit who searches out the deep things of God and reveals them to us:

"The ear cannot hear, the eye cannot see, the heart of man cannot know the things that God has prepared for those who love Him, but the Holy Spirit [the Revealer] searches out the deep things of God and reveals them to us."

This is astoundingly exciting that the Holy Spirit has been given to us in order to reveal the deep things of God to us! As you read this article, I want to challenge you to respond to God's Word by asking for the Holy Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him to rest upon you in order to break open a realm of understanding of God in a way that you have never known before (Eph. 1:17). Ask for the Lord to increase your understanding of His vastness so that a Holy Ghost boldness is released in you; then you will begin to believe for the impossible to be possible and the unseen to be seen. You will go from glory to glory to glory, and you will then see great and mighty exploits because you're going to know Him beyond your current measure of knowing Him. Limitations will come off of you, and you will step into the unlimited realm of God! People often ask me, "What's the key for the anointing?" The key for more anointing is a deeper level of knowing Him, and the more anointing you receive, the more you want to go deeper in knowing Him.

At a conference where I spoke recently, the Holy Spirit told me that the Lord was supplying grace at this present time for His people to go deeper in relationship with Him. The Lord is the Beckoner, the One who draws us in, who opens up and reveals Himself to us. Just pause to respond to His invitation right now by saying, "I want to go deeper with You, Lord."

GENERATIONAL HERITAGES RESTORED!

It goes on to say in Psalms 145:3: "Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised; His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall praise Your works to another." I believe that we are a generation that will not drop the spiritual "baton," but we will hand the next generation a rich heritage of spiritual progress in the Lord so that they may run with an even greater level of glory and knowledge of Him than we've ever known before on earth. The next generation won't have to start "re-digging" the old wells of plugged up revival when we go home to be with the Lord; they will use our breakthroughs as a springboard for even greater breakthroughs in the Kingdom of God. The Lord wants us to pass on a spiritual inheritance to our children and our children's children. Wouldn't you like to be one through whom the Lord fulfills all the promises He has made to your family line that lay dormant from generation to generation? Wouldn't you like to be graced by the Lord to have them all now heaped upon you? What an inheritance that would be to pass on to your children and your children's children!

I was praying for a person on my own staff recently, and all of a sudden the Lord showed me that they had a family blessing from three generations ago that had never fulfilled. I had no idea about this before, but the Lord showed me this and I said, "The Lord just told me He's about to bless you with something from three generations ago, of one of your grandmas. There was a promise of God; it never was fulfilled, and you're about to see the blessing of it." She began to weep because she knew what it was. The Lord wants to do this for all His people! You can see things restored to your heritage that have been promised but have never come to pass. The promises of God never come back to Him, and they never fall to the ground (see Isaiah 55:11); they're just waiting there dormant. Wouldn't you like to be favored by God to begin to see those blessings just come to pass and be heaped right on you? Wouldn't you like to see that kind of grace released on your life? The Bible says that what a thief steals must be recompensed sevenfold (Proverbs 6:30-31), so all the things that the devil has robbed from your heritage can be restored back seven times more than what it was before! There's no telling what blessings are in your family heritage! It doesn't matter if you don't even know your spiritual heritage; the Lord does! As you read the Bible, you see that God's into genealogy; you get tired of reading all of that "so and so begot this, so and so begot that." But He's keeping record of His Word, and His promises never fall to the ground! The Bible actually says that His covenant is for a thousand years. Wouldn't you like for the Lord to go back 1,000 years and take every promise that has never been fulfilled in your heritage and dump it in your lap this year? You can pass on to future generations not just what you get, but you can build on what's restored and pass on an even bigger blessing to your family line!

Look at Isaiah 49:8. It says:

"Thus says the Lord, 'In an acceptable time I have heard you. In the day of salvation I have helped you. I will preserve you and give you as a covenant to the people to restore the earth, to cause them to inherit the desolation, the desolate heritage; that you may say to the prisoners, "Go forth!" To those in darkness, "Show yourself."

That word "acceptable" there means favorable. So the Lord will show His favor which will cause us to inherit the desolate heritages, our inheritance that has lain dormant for years. Why don't you raise your hands and ask the Lord to release this favor to you right now? You will begin to receive this breakthrough for restoration of what's been desolate for years for the glory of His name!

Look back in Psalms 145:4, "One generation shall praise Your works to another." Understand that the enemy likes to take back ground that he has lost. When the Lord brings a breakthrough, He doesn't want us to only have breakthrough; God wants us to establish that truth, and if we don't establish that truth, the devil comes back in and it becomes seven times worse than before (see Luke 11:26). There are certain things that the enemy is flaunting at the church right now that he's taken back, but the Lord is restoring back those things to the church in this present season. We're in a restoration time in the Kingdom of God right now; in other words, there have been breakthroughs in the Kingdom in the years past, but man messed it up, whether it was the person God was using and they fell into sin, or whatever, but the anointing and the breakthrough was for the church, and even though they messed up, the Lord is saying, "It doesn't mean I'm not going to do it now." He's just waiting for a time when He can release it on those who are able to carry the weight of the glory, and right now the Lord is saying He's been preparing His people to carry the weight of that glory.

MIGHTY ACTS

It goes on to say in Psalm 145:4b, "and shall declare Your mighty acts." The word "declare" there means "to speak of plainly; to promise; to report, say, or to manifest; to be a messenger of a report of something that's taking place." So what is one generation going to declare to another? "Your mighty acts." Would you like for the Lord to use your life to be a messenger or declarer of the mighty acts of God? God is looking for those for whom He can show Himself strong and on whose behalf He can begin to do mighty acts. What is a mighty act? Well, a mighty act is something that is bigger than what we can do in and of ourselves. The Lord's looking for people through whose lives He can declare what only HE can do.

Let's continue with Psalm 145:5-6, "I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts." Now listen, the Lord recently told me that He is calling for people who will receive an anointing to know Him and begin to see His mighty acts. As a result, His people will begin to talk about the awesome acts of God and it will become a decree out of their lives that will cause people to begin to take notice. Wouldn't you like a sound to come out of your church about the mighty acts of God? Let's be honest, people are tired of just hearing about the mighty acts of God; they are desperately hungry to see the mighty acts of God going on in His church! The Lord told me that He wants to release an anointing on His people at this time for mighty acts. Don't you want to be a candidate for God's mighty acts; that your life isn't talk only, but also a demonstration of the power of God through your life? It says in 2 Chronicles 16:9 that He looks to and fro to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are loyal towards Him. What would it look like for God to show Himself strong on your behalf? Wouldn't you like to find out? In Isaiah 52:10 it says, "The Lord has made bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God." The word there for "holy arm" in the Hebrew symbolizes strength or power. Wouldn't you like to see the Lord show Himself in strong power through your life, not just through His finger or hand, but through His holy arm?

What will release His power and strength? It is hunger for Him that will release it. Are you desperate to see God move in your life? Are you tired of the same old same old? Are you like me where you don't want to read about the power of God anymore, you don't want to study about it anymore, you don't want to hear about it going on in Africa, but you're ready to see the power of God right here, right now? Our ministry has been so hungry to see His power and glory, and He is showing Himself strong in power in our "Texas Ablaze" meetings. Others are also getting hungry for a move of God, and it's not just in Texas anymore, but God's sent us to do "Washington Ablaze" meetings, "Pennsylvania Ablaze", "East Coast Ablaze", "Oklahoma Ablaze," and everywhere we're going people are asking us to do "Ablaze" meetings. They are doing this because we have this faith within us, and we know that it's all about who we know, and we know a mighty God who's still into mighty works, mighty acts of God, and our ministry is saying, "Come on Lord! Demonstrate Your mighty acts through our ministry!" Wouldn't you like for God to rest on your church, your home, your everyday life, and begin to show Himself strong on your behalf? How about not just in revival meetings, but also walking in your daily life in the awesome acts of God?

The Lord wants to pass on to your children a heritage that is more than just words; He wants to do something in your family where they actually behold the Lord. My sons still get blown away by what the Lordis doing in my life. I haven't camped out spiritually, but I've gone from glory to glory to glory. They're seeing what's taking place in my life, and it blows their minds, and they say, "My gosh, Dad, you're even different than you were six weeks ago!" Don't you want to be a lot more like Jesus than you are right now? Listen, one of the greatest tools for witnessing is transformation; your changed life. You can say things all day, but how many of you all know when God puts His finger on you, something happens!

Look again at Psalm 145:6, "And on Your wondrous works, men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts." Now, understand that this is talking about people that aren't yet believers. In Acts 2:43 it says, "Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles." In recent times, the church has known shame. The church doesn't carry much weight right now as far as the world's concerned, but the Bible promises that we'll know double honor. There will be a sense of awe amongst unbelievers that will be restored again from our heritage.

RESTORATION, NOT DISQUALIFICATION

"I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness. The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works. All Your works shall praise You, O LORD, and Your saints shall bless You." (Psalm 145:6b-10)

Who does it say shall bless God? "Your saints shall bless You."(v.10) And what shall His saints do? "They shall speak of the glory of Your Kingdom, and talk of Your power." (v. 11) They will bless Him and speak of His power. Each person is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139), and God is the author and the finisher of our faith; we are the works of God. The Bible calls every believer a saint; we are saints by the blood of Jesus. Psalm 145 goes on to say in verse 12, "To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts." The Lord has specifically been speaking to me lately about this phrase, "mighty acts." He wants to do something in your life for mighty acts. He wants to do something in your life, and it doesn't matter where you're from or who you are. It doesn't matter about your education, it doesn't matter what your background is; it's all about Who you know! When you've got a connection, you've got a connection, and we have a connection with Almighty God! If you knew someone with a connection who could get you into the White House for a personal visit with the President, you'd say, "Oh my gosh. You mean you could get me in to see President Bush?" We'd think, "Oh, man! What a connection!" But our connection with Heaven is infinitely more powerful and important than even this example!

God wants to do mighty things through your life. See, we need to break off this negative thinking through which we disqualify ourselves from being used by God based upon what we can or can't do. God doesn't want you to do what you can do by yourself; He wants to begin to do things through your life that only HE can do, where only He gets the glory. Listen, I didn't even finish high school, but to this day in Amarillo, people see me and say, "You're Keith Miller?" And I say, "Yeah!" In fact, my son came home from work one day and said, "Dad, I met somebody that knew you." I said, "Oh," and he said, "Yeah, he said you were a 'blankety, blank, blank in high school.' I told him you are a preacher now, and he said, 'No way! Keith Miller's a preacher?'" He was totally in shock! So your past doesn't disqualify you for your future. Your past, or the lack of what the world calls "training" doesn't disqualify you because you're efficient in the new covenant in Christ Jesus; His new covenant says that you're the carrier of the Presence of God, and if God be with you, who can be against you? "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13) With Him, nothing's impossible. God didn't say one day, "Okay, you're saved. Now go out and be a witness." He says, "No. I give you power to be my witness." Don't you want power to be His witness? Aren't you glad your past doesn't disqualify you for the present?

Every time the enemy tries to do something to stop you, He has just stacked the deck on your behalf because first of all, God says He'll restore everything the devil's robbed from you sevenfold. So every time the enemy did something, God says, "Guess what? I'm just going to heap it right on him right now seven times more than what it was before." So the enemy doesn't know it, but the whole time he was messing with you, he was actually just working on the behalf of God. "All things work for the good of those who are called according to the purposes of God." (Romans 8:28) So right now, guess what? I'm enjoying seven times seven times seven times seven! Everything he robbed from me in my young teenage years and my young adult years, I'm just enjoying back exponentially right now, and I'm getting my mind blown daily by the Lord's goodness! Secondly, it says in 1 Corinthians 2:6 that if the enemy would have known what he was doing, he wouldn't have crucified Christ. So you've got to understand that many things that have taken place in your life were just being allowed by God because there was a point that it was just working to your good, and now you're about to see the manifestation of God's tender mercy. God is so good!

We often talk about moves of God that have been shut down in the course of history. What about revivals that have broken out where God is really moving, but then all these people started quenching the Spirit so that it shut down because they didn't want it. We usually think, "Oh, my gosh! They shut down a move of God!" However, God will raise up people in these places where revival has been shut down who will be in union with His heart. His heart is to do something that's going to touch the neighborhoods and regions with a signal in the city that the glory of the Lord is there; and these people will cry out for restoration of what was lost. So God in turn says, "Now because they shut down my move of the past, guess what I'll do now in response to the cries of my people? I'm going to pour out seven times more than I was even going to back then!"

Take a look at 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, "And my speech and preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." The word "demonstration" there means "to confirm, make public, make known." The Lord wants to do something through your life that confirms who He is to the world; He wants to make known through your life His mighty acts. See, the Lord told me to quit asking for just a little. He said, "Ask for mighty things." Back in Psalm 145 in verse 13 it says, "Your Kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures throughout all generations." From generation to generation He's going to show Himself strong. I don't just look back to what was; I'm looking for what's now, and I believe it's going to be even greater than the former moves of God, so right now God is looking for a people who will say, "Okay, Lord. Show Your deeds now in our generation." He wants to demonstrate who He is through your life. Don't disqualify yourself because of your present position. You may think, "Well, I'm not a preacher; I'm not going to Africa; I'm not going to India; I'm not going all over Texas preaching the gospel." Well guess what? The Lord called you to rule and reign in this life wherever He has you positioned, and He wants to begin to anoint you for mighty acts wherever He has you. Wherever He has you, they need to see a demonstration of the reality of who Jesus Christ is. You have your position in the Lord right now, and whatever He has you doing, He wants to anoint you so that people begin to take notice of not just your words, but of the glory of His Kingdom, wherever you are. And age is not a factor as far as qualifying you, either.

THE KEY: KNOWING HIM

Recall the verse mentioned earlier in this article, Daniel 11:32? It says, "But those who know their God will be strong and do great exploits." The word "know" there means to "to perceive and see." The Lord wants a people who will perceive, see and understand Him, and they will be strong and do exploits. He wants His people to be strong in His might and power. I guarantee you, as you begin to see God as a mighty God, it does something in you, and you won't be so easily tossed to and fro. You won't easily give the devil so much credit. Are you ready to know God as Mighty God through your life? Are you ready to see Him not as a little bitty God, but Mighty God? I believe there's an anointing being released right now for the restoration of the mighty Name of Jesus. I have an understanding that as I speak the Name of Jesus, things have to fall, things have to come down, sickness has got to go, disease has got to go, depression has got to go, and oppression has got to go because everything that's not of the Kingdom of God must bow it's knee to the mighty name of Jesus. But this authority comes through the vastness of understanding and of knowing God. Wouldn't you like for the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, to come and settle upon you right now? How about a mantle of revelation to get to know God like you haven't known Him before, and that you see Him as Mighty God. This revelation so radically changes your thinking; it radically changes your lifestyle, and you start expecting every day for mighty things to take place.

Moses said in Exodus 33:13, "God I want to know Your ways that I may know You." He didn't say, "I just want to get into the Promised Land." He said, "First I want to know Your ways that I may know You." This is similar to the prayer that the apostle Paul prayed for the church in Ephesians 1:17-19, and this is what I pray for you reading this article, that you would know Jesus in this intimate realm, and in turn know His power:

"[I pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power"

Before you can receive this realm, you must have a hunger to know Him like you have not yet known Him. You must shake off complacency and get tired of the same old same old. There's got to be a hunger that you don't want to be an echo of voices you've heard speaking about knowing Him, but you want to know Him yourself. Aren't you tired of just hearing about Him healing? Don't you want to see Him heal now? If you have a broken heart, do you want to hear that God mends the broken heart, or would you like to experience Him as the Healer of broken hearts? If you are sick, you don't want to just hear that Jesus heals, but you want to firsthand experience Jesus the Healer! In like manner, we don't just want to know about God, we want to experience knowing Him. Jesus never just taught; He taught and did. He always had a message, but the message was carried with weight by demonstration of the Kingdom, and God wants to increase demonstration of His power in His people, His Body, now as well as then. We've had a lot of talk, but we're ready for a lot of demonstration

In verse 17, Paul begins by saying that he prays that God would "give to you" This is therefore a gift that one cannot work for or earn. God just wants to give it to us. Don't you wish to receive this gift from God? And how does one receive a gift? One just receives it. So in like fashion, I am asking for an anointing of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to rest upon you, reader. I'm asking for the Holy Spirit to come and rest upon you in the realm of the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, and several things will take place as a result; I know for myself from personal experience that we're in a new time, a new season, and right now daily I'm asking, "Holy Spirit, rest upon me with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation." Paul goes on to pray, "that He may give to you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him." It is for the purpose of knowing Him. Remember that it says, "Those who know their God will do great exploits." (Daniel 11:32) Those who know their God will do great exploits. Remember that Moses said, "I don't even want to go into the Promised Land if You don't go with me. But even more than that, I just don't want You to go with me; I want to know Your ways to know You." Moses had an understanding that as you behold the Lord, you're transformed into His image. God doesn't give powerful encounters to people so that they can say, "Oh, I had this powerful encounter with God," without coming away dramatically altered. Every encounter should be life-changing because it's not just an encounter, but it's an encounter with the living God, and if it's an encounter with God, something will be changed in you. And also, as you behold Him, you can understand and believe for the manifestation of who He is in that particular dimension. For instance, if He shows Himself to you as mighty, you can begin to believe to operate out of His might. As He shows Himself as powerful, you can be released in a realm of understanding the power of God. If He grants the ability to know His vastness, something in you will be released to begin to believe for the impossible to become possible and the unseen to be seen, and nothing can hold you back; nothing can keep you from what God has said He wants through your life. Don't you want the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to grant you understanding into a deeper realm of knowing Him?

Look at the life of Kathryn Kuhlman as an example. She had already been successful in ministry, had already seen people get saved, had already preached, had already built a church in Denver, and at the end of a dead end road one day she said, "Lord, I've got to know You." Kathryn Kuhlman, in the midst of the movement of the baptism of the Holy Spirit in the '60s and '70s, stopped in front of a congregation of an assembly on the Holy Spirit and said, "The baptism of the Holy Spirit is a wonderful thing, but I tell you the truth; there's something even deeper than that. There's a place where you surrender your life to God, and you know Him in that way." Wouldn't you also like to surrender your life to the Lord in that way and just say, "I want to know You more deeply than I've ever known You, God?" You want to know God like Moses; you want to meet face to face with God and say, "God, I want to know You and Your ways."

The word "knowledge" there in Ephesians 1 literally means "to be thoroughly acquainted with; to know thoroughly." (Strong's root word in the Greek #1921) Don't you want the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to be so strongly influencing you that you thoroughly become acquainted with and thoroughly know God? The word also literally means, "to know accurately, to know well, to recognize." Don't you want to be able to recognize God? How does one recognize something? One recognizes by sight, by hearing and by perception; it's by understanding. Hebrews 5:14 says that it's those who get strong food and by reason of use are able to discern between what is God and what isn't God, and you discern Him by knowing Him; it says the mature actually have their senses awakened to who He is, between what's good and what's evil, what's God and what isn't God. If you are like me, you are tired of shallow-water Christianity, and you want the deep things of God, or the strong food that it mentions here. Are you ready for the deep, deep things of God? That's what Paul was praying for when he said that the Spirit of wisdom and revelation would come upon people to know Him, and that they would recognize Him. God wants His people to walk in such a realm of knowing Him that as soon as we walk into a place, we can discern what is God or what is not of God. He wants you to come to the point that you're living according to the promise of 1 John 2:2 and 7, that you have an "anointing within to teach you." With this you will begin to walk in that realm and discern, "No, that's not God; this is God." He wants to demonstrate mighty acts through your life. One of the things that the Lord wants to begin to manifest through the church is a people who are living by knowing God, who aren't bouncing off every wall going through all this stuff, but we're guided by the Holy Spirit. We will be the most shrewd and stable people, and the unbelievers around us will start saying, "How do you do this? There's something different about you; what is it? You're anchored and not tossed about. There's a confidence about you." And our answer will be, "I know Him."

In closing, please pause and pray this prayer with me in response to God's Word. Let's ask to know Him better and to see His mighty acts displayed through our lives:

Lord, I pray for every reader, that by the power of Your Holy Spirit there will be an increase and a release of demonstration of not words only, but of Your power through our lives. I pray that everything we've ever known in You would increase, and I pray that there would be grace released for every person, that every delay, every adversity, every limitation would be broken down right now, and that what we couldn't do for ourselves, You're going to do for us for the glory of Jesus. I pray for Your Spirit of wisdom and revelation to come and inhabit each person, bringing them to a new level of glory of knowing Your magnificent Son, knowing Him and His ways intimately. I pray for this boldly, and I know that You will answer my prayer because it is Your will to demonstrate who You are through our lives. It is Your will to demonstrate Your limitless, boundless grace through our lives. And I pray for every family, every person reading this, that You will demonstrate Your great grace through our lives in the mighty Name of Jesus. Amen. Give the Lord praise!
