The Heavens Are Open!

by John Belt

More than we desire the Lord, He desires us. More than we want to be with Him, He desires to be with us. More than we desire breakthroughs, answers to prayers and any other thing where we long to see Him respond, He desires to show Himself powerfully in our midst. God is much more interested in breaking through into our world than we could ever imagine. Our desire for Him cannot compare to His desire for us. He has great desire for us to know His activity among us and how much He desires to reveal His goodness to us.

He desires to flood us with His love and goodness. To the measure that we are able to receive His love to the same degree we have the ability to give that love. He is the God of the overflow. He will overflow our vats with the glory of heaven. Jesus is the perfect likeness of God. He is the out raying of God. He desires to shine on us with His love and grace.

Hebrews 1:3

Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Matthew 5:6

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled .

We have a need for hunger that will cause us to adjust so that we can be in touch with His reality. We must continually stir the waters, awaken and sharpen our spiritual senses that we may experience the things of God. We are to always be pressing into His heart. We awaken ourselves to His desires by our hunger and pursuit of Him. As we adjust our lives to pursue Him we will experience more of His presence, anointing and encounters of the heavenly kind. There are many things to distract us from the best that God has for us. That means we need to be continually reminded that we have a need to press in for more of Him and remove whatever keeps us from that deeper place with God.

Hebrews 12:1

Why seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which does so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

We should always cry, "Take us deeper still!" God never leaves us. He is always with us but we must be tune with the frequency of heaven. God has a wavelength. There is a place we can always find Him. Heart felt worship; passionate pursuit in our "two-way" communication with Him and honoring His Word will never fail to bring us into His presence in a tangible way.

Jesus made the way. He broke the heavens open for us by His blood and sacrifice. All may not be aware of this, but we each have an open heaven. Jesus walked with an open heaven. All of us as His followers have the ability to walk with an open heaven. He does not shut the heavens. There is no need for us to ask the Lord to open the heavens. It was finished 2000 years ago. When Jesus came to Nathaniel he told him that he would see "the heaven's opened" and the angels of God ascending and descending He was setting in place a new beginning and a new way of living. We are all imitators of Christ. Jesus lived with an open heaven. We are called to flow from this heavenly reality and walk in this realm.

John 1:51

And he said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, Hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of man.

The open heaven between the Father and Jesus was necessary for Jesus to do the business of the Father. Destroying the devil's work is the purpose of Jesus. It is ours as well. As we align ourselves in such a way that we can stay in a place of continual awareness of the Presence of the Spirit, God will be able to flood us with His glory accomplishing His work in the earth through us. He will cause us to fly high in the heavens to see from heaven's view all that He would desire to say and do.
