TRANSFORMERS: The Power of Prophetic Worship

 by John Belt

1 Corinthians 2:14

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Because of the heavenly nature of prophetic revelation the natural mind is offended by it.  True worship, in the Davidic sense of worship, takes us to the place where God dwells.  In this kind of worship that involves the mouth giving praise and thanks to God our spirit man experiences the spiritual reality of the throne room of God.  In this place of worship we connect with God's Spirit in the most tangible way before His throne.   It is here that He speaks to us and reveals His heart.  Worship takes us to this heavenly place where the voice of God is revealed.  Prophetic revelation and worship are inseparable in our experience.   When we understand this we can know that when we worship revelation and understanding from God is to be expected because we are connecting to God's Spirit. But the natural mind, the earthly thinking, cannot understand this.  The natural mind refers to that part of us that is connected to the earth. It is of the natural, earthly or earthbound.  It also refers the lower "bestial" natural.  This is where the enemy gains access.  The natural mind also refers the "sensory" or "sensual" realm of thinking.  Thus us the fallen nature that interprets through natural feelings. In contrast, we are to walk by faith rather than sight or "natural feelings".  Worship is a heavenly thing, a thing of the Spirit that offends that natural mind.  For those who live by the inner man, rather than fleshly thinking living a life apart from the Holy Spirit this is a most obvious conclusion. The "sons" of God are led by the "Spirit" of God.  It is part and parcel of the normal Christian life to live by faith.

True worship takes you into the heavenlies because God inhabits our praise to make His life tangible in our lives.

Revelation 19:10

And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

We are daily destined for the throne. When we worship the Lord as Samuel did, as David did, we are taken into an encounter with the Lord.  Sometimes we need to press in, as some would say, "beyond the veil".  I would say pressing out of the earthly constraints into the heavenly place. But the way has been made though the cross for us to come into the Holiest by the blood of Christ.  God has created us to live in the reality of being seated in the heavenly realms with Him.  Anything short of this is to live short of the destiny that God has created us for.  We are a people who are called to this divine throne room activity.  The heavenly realm is our inheritance.  Jesus came that we might know Him and know the Kingdom realm that He represents.  It is only when we know Him, having been in His heavenly house - knowing and being familiar with this atmosphere, that we are able to effectively communicate and impart that experience to others.

 2 Peter 1:17

For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

A life of dependency on God's voice that comes from the realm of heaven within us causes us to be worshippers.  Apart from Him we can do nothing.   When we speak of a "sound of heaven" we are really speaking about the "voice" of God.  When you go to the music store to play one of these new fancy keyboards the sounds are called "voices".  It is the same when you look it up in the original language.  The word for voice also means "sound".  When we offer our sounds of worship to God He responds to us with His sound, His voice from heaven.   His voice is also filled with glory.   That nature of God is glory-"ous".  All who God is and does is filled with glory.   When we are filled with Him, filled with His sound and substance we are also filled with His glory.  This heavenly sound and substance, that is most excellent, according to this verse in 2 Peter fills us as we worship God.  This heavenly voice can also be translated as a noise.  As we make a joyful noise God fills us with His rumblings and stirrings.  His voice is like the voice of many waters.  Therefore with prophetic revelation that is poured into us in worship His waters are released in our spirit giving expression to His voice.

2 Corinthians 4:7

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

Come on! Let the real transformers stand up! As people who live in the blessing of God, for all of God's people are called to life in God's highest blessing, we are blessed with the privilege of being the vessels or pipelines of God voice and sound into the earth.   Sound is transforming.  Atmospheres are changed by sound.  Depending on the kind of sound coming into a room the corresponding spirit of the sound is released. In the same way, when the voice of God is released through sound whether through words or music an atmosphere is created or changed by the power of it.  When we yield in worship to God with a pure heart of thanksgiving and praise He fills us with His sound that we may be His transformers in the earth!   What a blessing!  His sound is also a sound of joy.  Blessed are those who know the "joyful sound".  It is not just about a sound.  It is a sound from heaven that produces joy, life and blessing.  The realm of heaven is full of joy, full of peace and God wants us filled with this realm.   It is a transforming realm that we have a 24/7 access to.  This is the Kingdom that we are representing.  It is not the kingdom of laws, but of heaven.  When heaven breaks in hell's work is demolished!  When the heavenly blessing of God comes in the earthly curse is broken.   Freedom is the heritage of the saints.  That is why the gospel means "good news"!   His excellent power released in the glory of God makes for transforming experiential revelation for all who get in the path of His goodness.
